There are many reasons why you would wish to change the history settings for your Internet Explorer browser. Some of these include watching what your children surfing, and also allows you to access all your previously viewed websites. Now to change the settings in the history for Internet Explorer it will only take you and your Internet Explorer.

If you are wondering how to access your history using the keyboard it can easily be done by pressing on the “control” button and the “H” button. You must be in an open Internet Explorer for this to work.

There are five simple steps you can take to change your history settings for Internet Explorer they are as followed.

1. Open up your Internet Explorer browser and find the Tools menu.
2. Once you click the Tools menu it should open with a drop down menu, please choose “Internet Options”
3. On the “General” tab there will be a button for Borwser History Settings. Click it.
4. In the section you can choose how many days you want to keep history, it is suggested you keep it in your history folder for only a day. Unless you’re running tests and need history to be on the computer, if you aren’t though then you should have it set for a day. The files can take up a lot of space over the course of a couple weeks and it’s easy to forget about this.
5. Click “Apply” and “Save” to complete the changes you have made.

It is rather simple to change the history settings in your Internet Explorer and it’s important at some point or another you check to make sure you are running the most efficient options. Try and always have the history set for one day so you don’t lose too much disk space. For faster computers it won’t matter as much but it still will slow your connection down somewhat.

Clearing Adult Sites from your browser, we all have had to. Let’s face it, we aren’t perfect and we don’t always visit the most G rated sites. Just in case your wife/mother/mother in law/girlfriend knows how to work a computer, you might want to take these steps to clear those not safe for work sites out of your browser.

First off, delete your browsing history. This shows every single page you visited during your Internet session.

Second, delete your temporary Internet files. This will ensure files that were downloaded, or “cached” on your hard drive will not be available for view. For users of IE 7, you can do the above actions by clicking on Internet Options and going to the General tab.
Firefox is a bit different. You should delete everything. You can do that by clicking on Tools and clear private data. Check every field you can. This will make sure the erasure of data is the highest strength available.

There is one more option for those ambitious enough. You can go into the computers registry files, and delete any urls you typed. WARNING, FOLLOW THESE STEPS OR YOU MAY DISABLE YOUR COMPUTER! Click on Start and then open the run dialog. Enter REGEDIT press enter and click ok. Click the Plus sign next to the following folders,

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER
• Software
• Microsoft
• Internet Explorer
• Typed URLs

You’ll find a list of the sites you typed into Internet Explorer. Right click on the name field and delete any entries you want. This method works for IE only, check all the boxes of clearing data for FireFox will do this for FireFox. Hopefully these tips will help you stay safe when you visit adult sites in the future. If you want to avoid this hassle, set Internet Explorer to the Maximum security level and none of this will ever be an issue.

There is more then one way to delete cookies, it’s important you know the different methods involved or else you won’t have fully deleted them.

You can first go to the text cookie folder and delete them all in there. When you delete these files from the cookie folder you don’t completely get them off of your computer to do this you will need to find the index.dat file, which can be found sometimes in the cookie folder itself. You can’t delete this though you will need to buy a software program capable of shredding the content in the index.dat file.

You can check our list of recommned tools. These specialized programs can be found on the internet, and they are very useful for deleting content on your computer that makes your privacy unsecured.

There is a way in your internet browser to turn off cookie support, but most websites nowadays need cookies to run properly. Once you delete your cookies you’re auto log-ins will be gone and you will have to type in you’re username and passwords again. You may also seem suspicious to other people on the internet because you’re cookie file is always empty, some sites won’t even allow you to access their websites.

The choice you have to make will be between having a web browser that is convenient to use, and having a web browser that is a pain in the back to use but offers privacy. If you want to invest a bit of money you can purchase programs that with allow you to continue with easy browsing and have privacy, they do this by deleting cookies that aren’t used by forbidden sites.

First off to know how to see and delete your cookies you will need to know exactly what a cookie is and no it’s not your favourite chocolate chip type of cookie. A cookie is a text string that gets entered into the memory of you’re browser. There are many different reasons behind why websites use these cookies and they are as followed.

• Personalizing information
• Help with Sales Services
• Collects information
• Helps with quick log-ins
• Adds to security

All of those above reasons add to why sites use cookies, if you want to view you’re cookies you can do so by either the server or browser side. Most cookies can be useful to the user although there are some very intrusive cookies which aren’t good to have.

On Windows each user has a separate cookie folder in the C: drive this is where you can locate them, but remembers that for every user there is a new folder. This means you to view all the cookies you would need to be on each users account. You can do this from the admin account of any Windows software. It’s important to view you’re cookies all the time as they need to be deleted regularly.

In the next post, I will show you how to delete your cookies.

Your temporary internet files folder is located in a different location depending on the Operating system and version you are using:

If you have Windows Vista as your OS then Temporary Internet Files folder is placed in the following locations (be aware that they can be on other drive instead of C):
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Important!

You need to change the settings of Windows Explorer to show hidden files (including the protected system files) in order to access temporary internet files folders.

If you use Windows XP or Windows 2000 then Temporary Internet Files folder is placed in this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

If you have only one user account on Windows XP or Windows 2000 then replace <username> with Administrator to get the path of the Temporary Internet Files folder.

If you use Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows Me or Windows NT then Temporary Internet Files are in these locations:
C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\
C:\Windows\Profiles\<UserName>\Temporary Internet Files\

Note that on your computer the Windows directory may not be C:\Windows but some other directory.

It’s important to know how to access these files because if you want to delete your history you will need to be able to locate the folder. Also if you have forgotten a site you like you can go into this folder and find all your cached pages, which means you will be able to find sites you forgot to bookmark. You can find you’re folder in the local drive for most cases. It is important that you delete these files regularly and make sure you always update the folder. A lot of intruders try accessing these files for marketing campaigns, although this is not aloud by law you still will find millions of intruders online trying things to gain access to your private files.

The reason so many intruders are interested in your cached files is because they can sell them off to major retail stores who use them for targeted ads. It is big money for some people and that is why you see so many other people trying it out. Now just to be on the safe side you could purchase a program to delete all your cached files plus other things, this is great for having solid security and privacy. If you can’t find your temp file you can delete it in the browser but remember it’s important to be able to access this for your own privacy.

The temporary internet file is a directory where the websites you visit go into. The reason they go into this directory is so that the next time you go to the webpage it will load a lot faster.

Every time you visit a website it is cached into your local computers hard disk. The temporary files will remain there until you clear them manually, to do this you will need to use your browsers delete option and select temporary internet files. It is located where you delete browsing history and cookies.

Deleting this way can be somewhat controversial though as it is to be said that it doesn’t delete these files right off of your computer. To be able to do this you will need a software program in which to get rid of these files.

These files can be used as very useful marketing knowledge for companies when it comes to knowing where the majority of the people are surfing. With knowing where people are surfing companies will be able to target there ads a lot more efficiently. Targeted ads are what big retail companies die for, it equals a high CTR and means money for their corporation.

If you don’t want your material to be available online then you will want to delete it everyday when your done surfing and you may want to invest a bit of money into getting a program that will clear these right off your computer.
