Try and always have the history set for one day so you don’t lose too much disk space. For faster computers it won’t matter as much but it still will slow your connection down somewhat.

First off, delete your browsing history.  This shows every single page you visited during your Internet session.

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER
• Software
• Microsoft
• Internet Explorer
• Typed URLs

You’ll find a list of the sites you typed into Internet Explorer.  Right click on the name field and delete any entries you want.  This method works for IE only, check all the boxes of clearing data for FireFox will do this for FireFox.  Hopefully these tips will help you stay safe when you visit adult sites in the future.  If you want to avoid this hassle, set Internet Explorer to the Maximum security level and none of this will ever be an issue. 

You can first go to the text cookie folder and delete them all in there. When you delete these files from the cookie folder you don’t completely get them off of your computer to do this you will need to find the index.dat file, which can be found sometimes in the cookie folder itself. You can’t delete this though you will need to buy a software program capable of shredding the content in the index.dat file.

The choice you have to make will be between having a web browser that is convenient to use, and having a web browser that is a pain in the back to use but offers privacy.   C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Important!

You need to change the settings of Windows Explorer to show hidden files (including the protected system files) in order to access temporary internet files folders.

• If you use Windows XP or Windows 2000 then Temporary Internet Files folder is placed in this location:
  C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

If you have only one user account on Windows XP or Windows 2000 then replace <username> with Administrator to get the path of the Temporary Internet Files folder.

• If you use Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows Me or Windows NT  then Temporary Internet Files are in these locations:
  C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\
  C:\Windows\Profiles\<UserName>\Temporary Internet Files\

Note that on your computer the Windows directory may not be C:\Windows but some other directory.

It’s important to know how to access these files because if you want to delete your history you will need to be able to locate the folder. Also if you have forgotten a site you like you can go into this folder and find all your cached pages, which means you will be able to find sites you forgot to bookmark.You can find you’re folder in the local drive for most cases. It is important that you delete these files regularly and make sure you always update the folder. Every time you visit a website it is cached into your local computers hard disk. The temporary files will remain there until you clear them manually, to do this you will need to use your browsers delete option and select temporary internet files. It is located where you delete browsing history and cookies.

Deleting this way can be somewhat controversial though as it is to be said that it doesn’t delete these files right off of your computer. To be able to do this you will need a software program in which to get rid of these files.
