I have recently found this freeware utility MozillaHistoryView v1.04 – <a href="http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mozilla_history_view.html"target="_blank" onclick="javascript:urchinTracker ('/outbound/article/www.nirsoft.net');">Mozilla Browsers History Viewer from NirSoft. You can use it for seeing the content of the history.dat file for Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape.

This application allows you to see the following information about the pages that you have visited:

URL – the link

First visit date – when you have initially visited this link

Last visit date – the last time the link was accessed

Visit counter – how many visits since the first visit date to last visit date

Referrer – from where you have navigated to this link (for example from a google serach)

Title – the title of the web page

You will be able to see all these information and you can export all or just selected items from the history. This tool is very useful if you want to compare the browser (Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape) history before and after using the clean history functions from the browser.

Deleting your web bookmarks is just as easy as putting them into your favourites, and it won’t take much work to delete the old unnecessary links. Over time it’s always a smart idea to do a quick check through your bookmarks to get rid of any unwanted ones and also to delete the links that don’t work now. Sites open and close all the time and it’s smart to get rid of those links that will just take up space and make things more unorganized. I have come up with a simple guide on how to delete your web bookmarks, it’s only a four step guide and shouldn’t pose a problem for any computer user.

1. Open the favourites menu up on your web browser
2. Right click on the file you wish to delete and click delete
3. Click yes when it asks if you want to send the file to recycling bin
4. Go to your recycling bin and empty it out

It’s rather simple to delete your web bookmarks and doesn’t take much time at all to complete. You could go through your bookmarks in an under an hour in most peoples cases, if your like however it may take longer the first time you organize your bookmarks. You will be surprised at how many sites you have in your favourites that you have forgotten all about and don’t need anymore. It will make things a lot simpler for you when trying to find websites you need to access through your bookmarks. Once you have done the sweep of your bookmarks once you will not need to worry about it for a couple months but after every couple months you should spend 20 minutes or so clearing unneeded bookmarks and links gone bad.

There is more then one way to delete cookies, it’s important you know the different methods involved or else you won’t have fully deleted them.

You can first go to the text cookie folder and delete them all in there. When you delete these files from the cookie folder you don’t completely get them off of your computer to do this you will need to find the index.dat file, which can be found sometimes in the cookie folder itself. You can’t delete this though you will need to buy a software program capable of shredding the content in the index.dat file.

You can check our list of recommned tools. These specialized programs can be found on the internet, and they are very useful for deleting content on your computer that makes your privacy unsecured.

There is a way in your internet browser to turn off cookie support, but most websites nowadays need cookies to run properly. Once you delete your cookies you’re auto log-ins will be gone and you will have to type in you’re username and passwords again. You may also seem suspicious to other people on the internet because you’re cookie file is always empty, some sites won’t even allow you to access their websites.

The choice you have to make will be between having a web browser that is convenient to use, and having a web browser that is a pain in the back to use but offers privacy. If you want to invest a bit of money you can purchase programs that with allow you to continue with easy browsing and have privacy, they do this by deleting cookies that aren’t used by forbidden sites.

If you are in need of deleting your browsing history because of work or school, you may not be able to. There are options for bosses to add a function which won’t let you click on delete history, there are some ways to go about cleaning the history off your computer. I have come up with a list of tools, and software that you can use to clean off any internet history, whether or not the option has been blocked by your employer.

The first thing you can try to see if it works is by pressing control H on your keyboard, this should bring up the history for your computer and you should have the option of selecting each one and deleting the ones you don’t want to be viewed.

You could also try downloading a program called Ccleaner or Eraser these both are powerful tools for clearing out your history. Now although you may have cleared your history it may be viewed by your employer still if they have set-up there tracking properly. The server side logs will be able to tell you’re deleted and none deleted history so this will leave you vulnerable to your employer.

If you’re just trying to clear the history for a home computer though then this will work fine. As an alternative to even having to delete your history anymore you could download the browser called Xb Browser. It will let you surf the net at work privately, and you won’t have to worry about being fired by your boss for viewing things you shouldn’t be. If you don’t want to worry about your boss knowing what you’re doing the best bet is to stay off sites you shouldn’t be on. There is a way to find out almost everything, so deleting it may not do the trick.
